How does Tear Trough Filler work
Small amounts of a soft filler are placed deep in the tear trough hollow and blended by the practitioner. By gently lifting the depression, the treatment reduces the shadow that makes the under-eye look tired, smoothing the transition between the lower lid and the cheek. Because the skin here is very thin, the effect is achieved with minimal product and precise placement, and it settles over one to two weeks.
Under-eye shadows are often a matter of light and structure rather than pigment:
- Volume restoration — refills the hollow that casts a shadow beneath the eye
- Shadow reduction — a smoother contour reflects light more evenly, lessening darkness
- Transition smoothing — blends the join between the lower eyelid and cheek
- Structural support — supports the thin under-eye skin subtly from beneath

Patient Journey
What to expect

Consultation
Every treatment begins with a consultation. Your practitioner assesses the cause of your under-eye concern — hollowing, puffiness or pigment — checks whether filler is the right option or whether another treatment would suit better, reviews your medical history and agrees a plan before proceeding.

Preparation
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment to reduce bruising
- Pause non-essential blood thinners for a few days where safe, as this area bruises easily
- Arrive with clean skin, free of eye make-up
- Allow two weeks before a major event
- Mention any history of significant under-eye puffiness or fluid retention

Treatment
After cleansing and applying numbing cream, small amounts of a soft filler are placed deep in the tear trough using a fine needle or, often, a blunt cannula to reduce bruising, and gently blended. You may feel mild pressure. The appointment usually takes twenty to thirty minutes. Some swelling or bruising is common in this delicate area, and detailed aftercare advice is provided before you leave.
