How does PDO Thread Lift work
Fine threads are inserted under the skin through a needle or cannula and gently drawn to lift and reposition the tissue. Small barbs along each thread hold the lifted position in place, giving an immediate improvement. Over the following months the threads dissolve and, as they do, stimulate the skin to produce fresh collagen, so support is maintained even once the threads have gone. The result is a subtle lift that softens over time as the collagen effect takes over.
Threads provide both a mechanical lift and a regenerative effect:
- Mechanical support — barbed threads grip and reposition sagging tissue for an immediate lift
- Collagen stimulation — the threads trigger new collagen as they dissolve
- Tissue firming — the new collagen maintains support after the threads are absorbed
- Gradual dissolving — the threads break down safely over several months

Patient Journey
What to expect

Consultation
Every treatment begins with a consultation. Your practitioner assesses the degree and areas of sagging, checks whether a thread lift suits your skin or whether significant laxity would be better addressed surgically, reviews your medical history and agrees a plan before proceeding.

Preparation
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
- Pause non-essential blood thinners for a few days where safe
- Arrive with clean skin, free of make-up
- Avoid booking within two weeks of a major event, as some swelling and bruising is expected
- Discuss any previous facial treatments or surgery

Treatment
The treatment area is cleansed and a local anaesthetic is used to numb it. Fine threads are then inserted under the skin using a needle or cannula and gently drawn to lift the tissue, with the barbs holding the new position. You may feel some pulling or pressure but the anaesthetic keeps it comfortable. The appointment usually takes forty-five minutes to an hour depending on the areas treated. There is often some swelling, bruising and tightness afterwards, and detailed aftercare advice is provided before you leave.
