How does Sculptra work
Sculptra is injected across the treatment area, where the poly-L-lactic acid gently stimulates the skin's fibroblasts to produce new collagen. This does not add volume immediately; instead, volume and firmness build gradually over weeks and months as your own collagen develops. Because the result is your own tissue, it looks natural and lasts well, with a course of two to three sessions usually recommended.
Sculptra rebuilds structure from within rather than simply filling:
- Collagen stimulation — poly-L-lactic acid prompts fibroblasts to produce new collagen
- Gradual volumisation — the growing collagen restores volume slowly and naturally
- Structural support — rebuilds the deeper foundation of the skin across broad areas
- Long-lasting effect — because it builds your own collagen, results can last up to two years

Patient Journey
What to expect

Consultation
Every treatment begins with a consultation. Your practitioner assesses your areas of volume loss and skin quality, explains the gradual nature of the treatment, reviews your medical history and agrees the number of sessions before proceeding.

Preparation
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
- Pause non-essential blood thinners for a few days where safe
- Arrive with clean skin, free of make-up
- Allow time between sessions as the effect builds gradually
- Have realistic expectations that results develop over weeks, not instantly

Treatment
After cleansing and applying numbing cream, Sculptra is injected across the treatment area using a fine needle or cannula, and the area is often massaged afterwards to distribute the product evenly. You may feel mild pressure. The appointment usually takes thirty to forty-five minutes. You will be advised to massage the area at home over the following days. Aftercare advice is provided before you leave.
