How does Filler Dissolving work
The enzyme is injected into the area containing the unwanted filler. It breaks the bonds that hold the hyaluronic acid gel together, and the body then absorbs and clears the resulting fragments naturally. The filler begins to reduce within hours, with the area often settling over one to two days. Depending on how much filler is present, more than one session is sometimes needed.
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that specifically targets hyaluronic acid:
- Enzymatic breakdown — splits the bonds holding the hyaluronic acid gel together
- Natural clearance — the broken-down filler is absorbed and cleared by the body
- Rapid action — begins working within hours of injection
- Selective effect — acts on hyaluronic acid filler while sparing most surrounding tissue

Patient Journey
What to expect

Consultation
Every treatment begins with a consultation. Your practitioner assesses the filler to be dissolved and confirms it is hyaluronic acid, discusses realistic outcomes, reviews your medical history and any allergies, and may arrange a patch test before treating.

Preparation
- A patch test may be required beforehand to check for sensitivity to the enzyme
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
- Pause non-essential blood thinners for a few days where safe
- Arrive with clean skin, free of make-up on the area
- Bring any information you have about the filler that was placed, if known

Treatment
After cleansing and, where needed, numbing the area, the enzyme is injected into the filler to be dissolved using a fine needle. You may feel mild stinging or pressure. The filler begins to break down within hours. The appointment itself usually takes fifteen to twenty minutes. Some swelling and redness afterwards is normal, and a second session is occasionally needed for larger amounts of filler. Aftercare advice is provided before you leave.

Downtime & Recovery
1–2 days

Aftercare
- Avoid pressing or massaging the area for 24 hours unless advised
- Skip strenuous exercise, saunas and heat for 24 hours
- Avoid make-up on the area for the rest of the day
- Allow the area to settle for one to two weeks before deciding on any re-treatment
- Attend a review to assess whether a further session is needed
